Women's volleyball team falls in final regular-season match

The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team lost to Santa Fe College in four sets Saturday afternoon.
The No. 16 Titans finished the regular season 15-10 and 6-6 in the Citrus Conference after a 21-25, 25-20, 20-25, 27-29 loss.
Santa Fe came out strong in the first set and grabbed a 14-7 lead before the Titans went on a run and tied the match 17-17 on back-to-back kills from Mariana Bueno Lopes and Libby Ashline. It would be tied once again 21-21 before Santa Fe took the final four points.
The Titans fell behind in the second set before Ashline had a couple of kills and a block to give the Titans a 7-5 lead. The lead reached five, 15-10, before a Santa Fe timeout. Lesmary Raffucci had back-to-back kills to give the Titans a 23-16 and went on to post the 25-20 win.
The third set was close to start but a 5-0 run by Santa Fe gave them a 12-7 lead and they led the rest of the way.
The fourth set was a battle as each team led by three at one point but a Dominae Jordan kill tied things at 24-24. Ashline gave the Titans a lead with a kill but Santa Fe struck back to tie things 26-26. It would be tied again at 27-27 before Santa Fe won the set and the match 29-27.
Eastern Florida State College will advance to the FCSAA Division I Volleyball Championship next weekend at Florida Southwestern State College.
