Women's volleyball team falls in five sets
The Eastern Florida State College women’s volleyball team lost a Citrus Conference match to Santa Fe at home on Saturday
The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team lost a Citrus Conference match at home on Saturday.
The Titans lost to Santa Fe College in five sets to fall to 2-7 in the conference. Santa Fe rallied back in the fourth set to tie the match and then won the fifth set 15-3 for their second conference win of the season.
Eastern Florida State College took the lead on a couple of kills from Diara Gaye gave the Titans a 5-2 lead. They would lead the rest of the way, winning the first set 25-20.
The second set was tight throughout as the Titans held a 22-21 lead before Santa Fe rattled off four straight points to even the match with the 25-22 win.
The third set was all Titans as they took the third set 25-18.
The Titans was closing in on a win in the fourth set, leading 23-17 but once again Santa Fe got hot and scored the final eight points to force a fifth set.
Santa Fe continued to play well, picking up the win in five sets.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to Fort Myers to play No. 1 Florida Southwestern Wednesday night. The match will begin at 6 p.m. The Titans will be home for the final home match of the regular season on Saturday against Polk State College at Titan Field House beginning at 2 p.m.
