The Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball team will open the Citrus Conference season Saturday afternoon against Daytona State College at Titan Field House.
The Titans enter the conference season No.13 in the NJCAA Division I National Poll and are 9-4 on the season.
"We are heading in the right direction, they are doing well in practice and they are buying into what we want to do," Eastern Florida State College women's volleyball coach Melito Eleutiza said. "We are getting ready to face one of the tougher teams in the conference and we know it is going to be a battle so we have to play well."
Eastern Florida State College freshman Jordyn Cox has 134 kills this season and is averaging 3.05 kills per set which is fourth-best in the state. Teammate Leyre Arroyo Sanchez has 124 kills and is averaging 3.02 kills per set.
Angelica Figueroa leads the state in digs with 165 while sophomore Sophia Iglesias is averaging 6.98 assists per set which is fifth in the state.
Daytona State College comes into the conference season 6-6 on the season and is led by Alyssa Rosa who is averaging 3.86 digs per set and has 162 digs this season.
"It is going to be who serves better," Eleutiza said. "I think the team that serves better will get the win. If we can serve well, we will have a good chance to win."
Saturday's conference opener will begin at 2 p.m. at Titan Field House on the Melbourne campus. Admission is free and fans can watch the match live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
