Women's tennis team opens national tournament on Saturday
The Eastern Florida State College women’s tennis team will take the court Saturday morning in the first day of the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Tyler, Texas
The Eastern Florida State College women's tennis team will take the court Saturday morning in the first day of the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Tyler, Texas.
The Titans will have three players open with singles matches on Saturday morning.
Laura Yans will open the tournament as the No. 4 seed at No. 1 singles. Yans will play Coastal Alabama's Emily Grubach in the first round at 8 a.m.
Elena Martinez Prado is the No. 5 seed in No. 2 singles and will open the tournament against Southwestern Illinois' Morgan Keefe.
Maria Gento is the No. 3 seed at No. 3 singles and will have a bye in the first round.
Thais Mitlmeier is the No. 8 seed at No. 4 singles and will open the tournament at 10:30 a.m. Saturday against Mississippi Gulf Coast's Lauren Sullivan.
Sara Ladino is the fifth seed at No. 5 singles and will get a bye in the first round as will Dasha Moskalenko at No. 6 singles. M is the No. 4 seed in the tournament.
In doubles, the No. 1 doubles team of Gento and Prado are the No. 7 seed and will open the tournament against Wallace State's Sophia Baillos and Noelle D'Angelillo. The match will begin at 1 p.m.
The No. 2 doubles team of Moskalenko and Mitlmeier are the No. 6 seed and will receive a bye in the first round. The No. 3 doubles team of Ladino and Yans will also have a bye in the first round as the No. 6 seed.
The tournament will begin on Saturday with the finals scheduled for Wednesday in Texas.
