Women's soccer team plays for Region 8 title Sunday

The Eastern Florida State College women's soccer team will play for the Region 8 title Sunday night at Daytona State College.

The No. 14 Titans will play No. 9 Daytona State College at 7 p.m. it will be the third meeting between the two programs this season with each team winning once and come into the championship match 5-1 in conference play. It marks the seventh time the two teams have met for the Region 8 title.

Eastern Florida State College defeated Miami Dade College 3-0 in the first semifinal as Victoria Pou Varona scored all three goals in the win. Varona has now scored five goals this season. Teammate Lili Baidoe had an assist in the game and has now six assists and 12 goals this season. 

Daytona State College beat Polk State College 2-0 as Shaneil Buckley and Jada Clarke each scored in the shutout. It was the 14th goal of the season for Buckley.

The Falcons have won eight straight coming into the final.
