Women's golf team places fourth at the NJCAA Division I Southeast District Championships
The Eastern Florida State College women’s golf team finished fourth at the NJCAA Division I Southeast District Championship on Tuesday
The Eastern Florida State College women's golf team finished fourth at the NJCAA Division I Southeast District Championship on Tuesday.
The Titans shot a 310 in the final round of the tournament and finished the two-day tournament with a 631. Seminole State College shot a 305 in the final round to claim the district title.
Sophomore Ann Burel shot a 76 in the final round and finished fifth overall in the tournament. Like the first round, Burel finished strong, shooting even par on the back nine to finish at 3-over.
Teammate Mila Tang rebounded from a rough first round to post a 1-over 74 as she posted four birdies and five bogeys in the round. Tang finished sixth overall in the tournament.
Margaux Blais and Blair Powers each shot 80 for the second straight day and finished tied for 11th overall. Vivian Luu shot an 84 and tied for 16th overall.
"A little better than yesterday," Eastern Florida State College women's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "Good comeback by Mila. We just need to be better and keep cleaning up the scoring."
Daytona State College rallied to finish second as they qualified with Seminole State College for the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Moline, Illinois. The Titans will wait to see if they earn an at-large bid to the national tournament. Burel did earn an automatic bid to the national tournament with her top-five finish.
