The Eastern Florida State College softball team lost a heartbreaker in the winner's bracket quarterfinals of the NJCAA Division I National Tournament Thursday morning.
The ninth-seeded Titans rallied late to tie the game 606 but the No. 1 seed Florida Southwestern scored in the bottom of the seventh to win 7-6.
Down 6-0, Kerissa Howell got the Titans on the board with a two-run home run in the sixth inning. Then after a scoreless inning from reliever Isabella Rosales, the Titans struck for four runs in the top of the seventh inning to tie it 6-6. Jaelynne Whipple, Madison Velazquez and Howell each had RBIs in the inning.
Aracelis Jimenez finished with two hits as did Whipple and Howell.
The Titans will now move to the loser's bracket and face McCook at 2:30 p.m. EST on Thursday.
