Four softball players named to All-FCSAA First Team

Four members of the Eastern Florida State College softball team were named to the All-FCSAA First Team on Tuesday afternoon.
Sophomores Aracelis Jimenez and Avery Velazquez have been named to the all-FCSAA team for the second straight season while Annalyn Duncan and Jaelynne Whipple make it in their first season with the Titans.
Velazquez has now made the first team both seasons after having a strong sophomore season with the Titans. At the plate the Ocoee native hit .423 this season with 14 doubles, 12 home runs and drove in 71 runs while scoring 60 times.
On the mound Velazquez has also been good again this season, recording a 9-5 record with a 1.43 ERA in 83 innings pitched.
Velazquez is the first Titan to be named to the All-FCSAA First Team twice since Cassie Boggs in 2012-13.
Jimenez made the second team in her freshman season but was named to the first team this season after the Orlando native has put together a big season both at the plate and in centerfield. Jimenez hit .471 this season which is third in the FCSAA and scored 75 runs with 23 RBI and stole 38 bases heading into the postseason.
Jimenez is only the third Titan to be named to the All-FCSAA Team in both her freshman and sophomore seasons.
Duncan is having a record-setting season with the Titans as the sophomore leads the FCSAA with 85 runs batted in in 55 games. The sophomore second baseman is hitting .429 this season with 12 home runs and 19 doubles.
Whipple is also having a record-setting season in her first year with the Titans. The freshman third baseman has hit an FCSAA-leading 12 triples and is hitting .418 with 43 RBI and has scored 51 times.
Eastern Florida State College will open the FCSAA D1 Softball Championships on Wednesday night against No. 4 Indian River State College. The first-round game will begin at 7 p.m. at Eddie C. Moore complex in Clearwater. Admission is $12 and fans can watch the game live online at the FCSAA Digital Network.
