Titans pick up pair of conference wins on the road Tuesday

The Eastern Florida State College softball team picked up a Citrus Conference sweep on the road Tuesday.
The Titans improved to 18-10 in the conference with a couple of wins over Polk State College in Winter Haven. Eastern Florida State College won the first game 11-4 and then the second game 9-1.
In Game 1, Annalyn Duncan, Avery Velazquez and Jaelynne Whipple all hit home runs as the team had 11 runs on 12 hits in the win.
The Titans got things going in the top of the first inning as Isabel Otero tripled and scored on a wild pitch. Annalyn Duncan would single and score on a Velazquez two-run home run. It was her ninth home run of the season.
In the second inning they made it 6-0 highlighted by a two-run home run by Duncan, her ninth of the season.
Polk State cut it to 7-3 in the fourth inning but the Titans would score a run on a sacrifice fly by Jessica Merk in the fifth, then another two runs in the sixth on Whipple's third home run of the season.
Zoey Mills got the start and went 3 2/3 innings with Hannah Davis taking over and finishing the game.
In Game 2, Annalyn Duncan had two more home runs as the Titans cruised to another win.
The Titans struck for four runs in the top of the first inning as Avery Velazquez had an RBI double, the Whipple had a two-run double and later scored on an error.
They would add three more in the third inning as Duncan hit her second home run of the day and first of Game 2 to lead off the inning. With the bases loaded, Brooklyn Scott hit a sacrifice fly to make it 7-0.
Duncan would hit a two-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to make it 9-0. Duncan now leads the team with 11 home runs.
Isabella Rosales allowed one run on three hits over five innings for the win, striking out three.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to Hillsborough Community College on Thursday to make up a doubleheader that was postponed last month. The first game will begin at 3 p.m.
