Eastern Florida State College softball player Avery Velazquez becomes just the third Titan to be named to the NJCAA Division I All-America first team.
The freshman from Ocoee is the first Titan in over a decade to be named an all-american and joins former players Cassie Boggs and Aimee Halpin as the only players to be on the first team.
Velazquez, who was named to the NFCA first team last week, was the utility player on the first team as she played first base and was a starting pitcher in her first season with the Titans.
She went 24-11 on the mound with a 1.22 ERA in 224 2/3 innings pitched. She finished with 188 strikeouts. At the plate, Velazquez hit .416 with 22 doubles, eight home runs and drove in 69 runs.
Velazquez was named to the NFCA All-Region South team earlier this season and has also been named to the All-FCSAA team as well as the FCSAA All-Tournament team this season.
Eastern Florida State College finished the season 39-22 overall and went 1-2 in the FCSAA Division I Softball Championship in Clearwater.
