Men's tennis team opens national tournament Monday

Sophomore Salva Mulet will open the tournament on Monday morning, playing SW Illinois' Manaye Mossman for a spot in the quarterfinals. Mulet is ranked 11th in the final national ranking. The winner of Monday's match will face No. 2 seed Santiago Hidalgo of Weatherford on Tuesday.
Fernando Martinez is the No. 6 seed at No. 1 singles and gets a bye into the quarterfinal round where he will face No. 3 seed Haruki Okude. The match will be Tuesday at 8 a.m.
Johan Mottlau is the No. 5 seed at No. 3 singles and gets a bye. He will face the No. 4 seed Luca Laurindo of Cowley College Tuesday morning at 8 a.m.
At No. 4 singles, Pablo Garcia is the No. 6 seed and gets a first-round bye. He will play No. 3 seed Luka Van Geel from Tyler Junior College at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
Tomas Kurz Cardozo is the No. 5 seed at No. 5 singles for the tournament and will get a bye. He will play Weatherford's Julian Blainey in the quarterfinals Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
At No. 6 singles, Ignacio Sendra will be the No. 3 seed and has a bye into the quarterfinals. Sendra will face the six seed Vaughn Smith of Cowley College Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.
In doubles, the No. 1 doubles team of Martinez and Mulet are the No. 5 seed and will get a bye to the quarterfinals where they will face Weatherford's Matteo Cardoso and Santiago Hidalgo who are the No. 4 seed on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
The No. 2 doubles team of Mottlau and Filip Sormaz are the No. 4 seed and will team up to face host Collin College's Philippe Dau and Ander Huelamo who are the No. 5 seed. The match will be Tuesday at 5 p.m.
Pablo Garcia and Tomas Kurz are the No. 4 seed at No. 3 doubles and get a bye in the first round. They will face No. 5 seed Boitshepo Maake and Santiago Martinez from Collin College. The match will also be Tuesday at 4 p.m.
It is the eighth straight season that the men's tennis team will be competing in the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.
