Men's tennis team opens with win
The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team defeated Palm Beach Atlantic in the home opener on Tuesday
The Eastern Florida State College men's tennis team opened the season with a sweep against Palm Beach Atlantic Tuesday at Titan Tennis Center on the Melbourne campus.
The Titans picked up the 9-0 victory for the first win of the spring season.
The No. 1 doubles team of Jack Dixon and Hugo Car had a tight match with the duo of Juanfer Contreras and Luis Platas, winning the tiebreaker 7-3 to win 7-6.
The team of Nick DeVivo and Colin Tavares won 6-3 at No. 2 doubles and Jett Leong and Tomas Quesada Perez teamed up to win 6-4 at No. 3 doubles.
Up 3-0, the singles matches began and all of them won in straight sets. Car picked up the 6-1, 6-3 victory against Platas at No. 1 singles with Dixon winning the No. 2 singles match 6-1, 6-4. DeVivo won the No. 3 match 6-1, 6-1 and Quesada Perez had a battle in the second set after winning the first 6-0. Tied 5-5, Quesada Perez would pull out the victory at No. 4 singles.
Leong won 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5 singles and Alex Achour won 6-4, 6-1 at No. 6 singles.
