The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team fell to Daytona State College in the Region 8 Tournament Final Saturday night at Daytona State College.
The No. 7 Titans fell to No. 3 Daytona State 2-1 in the final and the Falcons will advance to the Southeast District Championship.
Eastern Florida State College finishes 11-3-1 and will wait to see if they get an at-large berth into the NJCAA Division I National Tournament beginning November 16 at Daytona State College.
The two teams both had chances but the game was scoreless after 45 minutes. But the Titans opened the scoring early in the second half.
Alvin Ssekamate intercepted a pass and sprinted down the field and hit a perfect shot across the field and Joao Victor Loureiro went up and headed it into the top of the net just a minute and 34 seconds into the second half.
The Falcons would tie the game six minutes lates as Ashenafi Jarre scored. Nine minutes later, Daniel Adzah would score to give the Falcons a lead.
Eastern Florida State College had chances to tie the game back up but all-Region 8 goalkeeper Matthew McCall made some big saves to preserve the win.
The Titans finished the Region 8 Tournament as the runner-up for the first time in program history.
