Titan men's soccer team rolls, ready for showdown with Broward
The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team picked up a big Region 8 Conference victory Wednesday night, setting up a showdown with Broward College
The Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team needed a big game to stay in the hunt for a postseason berth and they did just that Wednesday night against ASA Miami.
The Titans scored three times in the first 17 minutes and went on to defeat the Storm 6-0 in a Region 8 Conference matchup at Titan Soccer Complex.
Danilo Orsi-Dadomo scored his ninth goal of the season two and a half minutes in the contest and then captain Craig McCall finished a penalty kick for his second goal of the season. Moments later he scored again to give the Titans a commanding lead.
"I thought if I got it to the back post it would go in somehow," McCall said of his second goal that was a perfect strike.
The team would just be starting as Alex Alexis used his speed to open the scoring in the second half. He would pick up a second goal less than three minutes later on a nice strike from outside. Yaya Cisse rounded out the scoring with his fourth goal of the season.
"It was a good performance from back to front. We needed to bounce back and show that we have some character, resilience and we did just that," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. "Overall it was a perfect night."
The Titans are in a battle for a postseason spot with Broward College after Daytona State picked up the 2-0 victory against Broward Wednesday. Eastern Florida will travel to Broward on Friday for a 1 p.m. game and then host them Sunday at 1 p.m. on Sophomore Day to decide who will go to the postseason.
"It is going to be a battle, there is going to be so much on the line Friday and everybody knows it," Twelvetrees said. "It is a hard place to go and play, it will be an absolute war down there and we need to be ready."
