Knight lifts Titan men's soccer past Broward in conference matchup
Siegle Knight's first-half goal helped the Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team past Broward College
Seigel Knight has been working on becoming a better scorer and on Sunday night his blast from outside the box was the difference in the Eastern Florida State College men's soccer team's victory over No. 10 Broward College.
"Coach has been telling me to take my time, take two touches and so I took my time a bit and scored," Knight said of his fifth goal of the season.
"His ball striking ability is as good as anybody's," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. "He is a great ball striker and he always has the ability to score, he just has to pick and choose when to shoot. Today he did and put one into the goal."
Knight's goal was all the defense needed as they recorded the 1-0 win against one of the better-scoring teams in the Region 8 Conference.
"It would have been nice to get that second goal but we didn't and when you don't get that second goal, things can get hairy," Eastern Florida State College men's soccer coach Oliver Twelvetrees said. "We were pushing in the first 10 minutes of the second half and didn't get it. Then the momentum changed and I was proud of the defensive effort from the lads."
The victory put Eastern Florida State College in second place in the Region 8 standings with a showdown at Daytona Beach scheduled for Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. With five conference games remaining, every game is big.
"It was a big win, we have to take every game like a final now," Knight said. "We have to win and keep going in order to earn the achievement of making nationals. We just have to put in the work and stay together as a team. We need everyone now."
