Men's golf team finishes in third, qualifies for national tournament

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team finished third at the NJCAA Southeast District Championship and punched their ticket to the NJCAA Division I National Tournament.
The Titans shot a 294 in the final round Tuesday to place third overall at Lagoon Park in Montgomery, Alabama.
Jamie Smith shot even par 72 in the final round and captured the individual medalist honor, shooting 2-under 214 for the tournament. After making the turn at 1-over, Smith birdied the par 5 12th hole as well as the par 4 18th to finish even par.
Teammate Daniel Byers shot 1-over 73 and finished in 10th place while Horace Pennix and Sean Jacoby tied for 17th overall after both shot a 75. Sean Jacoby shot a 74 and finished in 19th place.
Palm Beach State College won the southeast district tite, shooting a 294 in the final round. Central Alabama Community College finished in second place.
The NJCAA Division I National Tournament will be held at Sand Station in Newton, Kansas May 12-15.
