Men's golf team in third at Southeast District Championships

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team is in third place after the first two rounds of the NJCAA Southeast District Championship in Montgomery, Alabama.
The Titans shot a 297 in the first round and then a 294 in the second round and is six strokes behind Central Alabama Community College.
Palm Beach State College shot even par in both rounds to lead the district championship at Lagoon Park.
Jamie Smith is in second place after shooting rounds of 72 in the first round and 70 in the second round. In the afternoon round he had three birdies and one bogey in the round.
Daniel Byers is tied for 10th overall after shooting rounds of 76 and 74 while Sean Jacoby and Horace Pennix are each tied for 13th.
Jacoby started both rounds with a double bogey and bounced back to shoot 74 in the first round and 78 in the second round.
Pennix shot a 77 in the first round and bounced back with a 75 in the second round. Nolan Hyatt opened with an 81 and then shot a 1-over 73 in the second round and is in 21st place overall.
"Good playing by Jamie Smith. Good afternoon play by Hyatt and Daniel," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "Lagoon Park is a good test and we just weren't sharp across the team. We need to hit some quality shots and hole some putts."
The final round of the district championships is scheduled for Tuesday morning with the Titans teeing off at 10:30 a.m.
