Men's golfer Jamie Smith wins individual title in Alabama

The Eastern Florida State College men's golfer Jamie Smith won the individual title at the Wallace Kickoff Classic Tuesday.

The freshman shot a 76 in the final round and won the title at 3-under for the tournament. Smith helped the Titans finish second overall in the fall season opener.

After firing a 65 on Monday, Smith had a tough stretch of three holes on the front nine but bounced back to finish strong and win the title.

Horace Pennix shot even par 72 on Tuesday and finished sixth overall in the tournament. Pennix had an eagle on the par 5 11^th hole and also had three birdies in the round.

Blake Hodges finished 12^th overall at 6-over for the tournament while Sean Jacoby finished 9-over and tied for 20^th. Daniel Byers had an 85.

"The golf course played difficult today with challenging hole locations," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said.

Central Alabama won the tournament by eight strokes over the Titans.

Eastern Florida State College will be back in action on Monday at the Kaiser Seahawk Shootout.
