Men's golf team moves up leaderboard at national tournament

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team moved up the leaderboard in the second round of the NJCAA Division I National Tournament in Newton, Kansas.
The Titans shot a 302 on Wednesday and are in 18th place halfway through the tournament.
Sophomore Hugo Griesheimer shot 1-under 71 as he got off to a good start with birdies on each of the first two holes as well as on holes 8 and nine to finish the front nine at 3-under 33. Another birdie on No. 13 had Griesheimer back to 3-under but recorded bogeys on 16 and 17 to finish with a 71.
Masen McKain shot 2-over with a consistent 1-over on both the front and back nines. McKain is 9-over for the tournament.
Micke Laurelli struggled on the back nine after making the turn at 1-over, shooting a 41 on the back nine to finish 6-over for the round.
Horace Pennix had a couple of holes ruin his day as he shot a 7-over 79 while Danny Byers had an 80.
Eastern Florida State College will tee off beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the third round of the national tournament at Sand Creek Station.
