The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team picked up a big Citrus Conference win against No. 21 Florida Southwestern Saturday at Titan Field House.
The Titans won their eighth straight game, defeating the Bucs 81-67 to improve to 9-3 in the conference.
Misael Cruz Rodriguez hit a couple of 3-pointers and another basket and had eight quick points as the Titans jumped out to a 19-8 lead and then Cruz Rodriguez had another basket to make it 23-10.
The lead would reach 16 before Florida Southwestern went on an 8-0 run. A Sean Register Jr. basket in the final seconds sent the Titans to halftime leading 44-33.
The lead in the second half would reach 19 as Register Jr. eight of the Titans 10 points during a stretch early in the second half. Up 77-58 on a Cruz Rodriguez three-point play. But Florida Southwestern would make one final run to cut it back to 14 at the end of the game.
Register Jr. finished with 29 points while Cruz Rodriguez had a triple double with 24 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists.
Djiby Ly had 15 points in the win.
Florida Southwestern's Mason Blazer had 19 points while Kenyon Giles and Tyler Bey each had 15 points.
Eastern Florida State College will travel to Hillsborough Community College next Saturday for a Citrus Conference game beginning at 4 p.m. The Titans will be back home Wednesday, Feb. 25 against Indian River State College.
