The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team lost a Citrus Conference game on the road Wednesday night.
The Titans fell behind in the first half and could not catch the Bucs who hit 13 3-pointers in the 97-82 victory.
The Titans got off to a strong start as Sean Register Jr. scored six of the first 17 points as the Titans led 17-9 with just under 12 minutes left in the first half. The Bucs would go on a 16-4 run late in the first half to take a 25-21 lead with 6:37 left in the half. FSW continued to hit shots as the Bucs would lead 45-28 at halftime.
Register Jr. made a couple of big 3-point plays in the second half as the Titans tried to get back into the game. Tyson Wilson made a shot and was fouled, making the free throw to cut the Florida Southwestern lead to nine, 62-53 with 10:37 left. But Florida Southwestern hit big shots throughout the second half and went on to pick up the win.
Register finished the game with a team-high 25 points, marking the 14th time this season the freshman has scored 20-plus points in a game. Teammate Misael Cruz Rodriguez finished with 18 points which is his third game this season and second straight that he has scored in double figures.
Eastern Florida State College is now 12-6 overall and 1-4 in the Citrus Conference. The Titans will be back home on Saturday afternoon against Hillsborough Community College. The game will begin at 4 p.m. and admission is free at Titan Field House.
