Men's basketball team goes 2-0 at the FSW Holiday Classic
The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team defeated the Florida State College at Jacksonville 99-85 to improve to 7-3 on the season
The Eastern Florida State College men's basketball team went 2-0 at the FSW Holiday Classic with a victory over the Florida State College at Jacksonville on Friday.
The Titans used a couple of big runs to defeat the Florida State College at Jacksonville 99-85 to improve to 8-3 on the season.
Eastern Florida State College used a 7-0 run early in the first half to take a lead and built it to a 10-point lead on a Jevon Yapi basket. It grew to 33-19 on a Djiby Ly basket as Ly had nine of his 13 points in the first half.
The Florida State College of Jacksonville would go on a run late in the first half and cut the lead to three at halftime.
But for the second straight night Eastern Florida State College came out red hot in the second half. The Titans scored the first 19 points of the second half and led 63-41 in the first four minutes of the second half.
From there the Titans cruised to their eighth win of the season.
Eby Ogoh recorded a double-double for the second straight game, scoring 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the win.
Sean Register Jr. led the Titans with 23 points and had six rebounds while Tyson Wilson had 14 points, seven assists and six rebounds along with four steals.
Eastern Florida State College will host the Eastern Florida Classic on Monday and Tuesday at Titan Field House.
On Monday, Florida Southwestern will play East Georgia State College at 2 p.m. with the Titans facing Gordon State College at 4 p.m.
Then on Tuesday Florida Southwestern will play Gordon State at 2 p.m. with the Titans wrapping up the tournament at 4 p.m. against East Georgia State College.
