Brewton, a freshman guard from Snellville, Georgia and Shiloh High:
• Averaged 28.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, three assists and two steals in two games.
• Led Eastern Florida State to a 2-0 record to start Southern Conference play, winning at NJCAA No. 3/FCSAA No. 1 and previously undefeated Palm Beach State and defeating FCSAA No. 8 Broward at home.
• Shot 63.9 percent (23-of-36) from the field, 60 percent (3-of-5) from the three-point line and 87.5 (7-of-8) from the free throw line.
• Scored 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting in the win over Palm Beach State, capped by a length of the floor, buzzer-beating layup to give the Titans the 74-72 win. • Tallied 31 points, nine rebounds and four assists in the 93-81 win over Broward.
Brewton is the second Titan to win the award this season. Classmate and fellow guard C.J. Jackson received the honor in November.
"It's an honor and very exciting that Kareem is region player of the week," said Eastern Florida head coach Jeremy Shulman.
"He is one of the best in the country, and with his intense work ethic, continues to get better weekly. It's a very deserving recognition for such a great kid."
