Baseball team falls late against Santa Fe in conference game

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team lost a back and forth game with Santa Fe College Thursday afternoon.
Santa Fe broke a 7-7 tie in the bottom of the eighth inning to win the first game of a three-game series. The series will move to Bruce Bochy Field on Saturday for a doubleheader.
On Thursday, the Titans jumped out to an early lead as Ray Yero had an RBI triple in the top of the second inning and scored on Ethan Askin's sacrifice fly.
Up 2-0, Yero struck again in the top of the fourth inning as Yero once again tripled scoring Steel Mientkiewicz. Askin singled to score Yero and it was 4-0. Richie Collazo would later double to score Askin and it was 5-0.
But Santa Fe would score a run in the bottom of the fourth and then two in the fifth and sixth innings to tie the game 5-5.
In the top of the seventh inning, the Titans struck for two runs as Jake Richardson was hit by a pitch and then scored on an error. Mientkiewicz would single, scoring Andrew Prieto to make it 7-5.
Santa Fe would tie it in the bottom of the seventh and then won the game in the bottom of the eighth when Cole Carnell singled with the bases loaded and two outs.
Prieto had three hits in the game while Yero, Askin and Mientkiewicz each had two hits.
Saturday's doubleheader at Bruce Bochy Field will begin at 1 p.m. and admission is free. Fans can also watch the games live online at the EFSC Titans YouTube page.
