Baseball team home Thursday night for series opener

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team will be home on Thursday evening for the first game of a three-game series with the State College of Florida-Manatee-Sarasota.

Thursday's Citrus Conference game will begin at 5 p.m. at Bruce Bochy Field.

The Titans are coming off a series win against Indian River State College and are now 8-13 in the conference. Eastern Florida State College is hitting .295 this season led by Andrew Prieto who is hitting .386 in 30 games. Teammate Bryce Jackson is hitting .322 with a couple of home runs and 33 RBI.

The State College of Florida, Manatee has won four of the past five games and are third in the conference standings at 13-8. The Manatees received votes in the latest NJCAA Division I National Poll and are hitting .322 this season which is tied for fourth in the state.

Dominic Woodward is hitting .383 this season with eight home runs and his 46 RBI is tied for fourth in the state. Teammate Ryan Kaitz is leading the team with a .400 average.

The first game of the series is Thursday with a doubleheader scheduled for Saturday afternoon at SCF-Manatee.
