Baseball team's rally in ninth inning falls short

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team's rally fell short in the ninth inning on Tuesday afternoon.
The Titans scored three times in the top of the ninth inning but fell 7-6 at Lake Sumter State College.
Down four heading to the ninth inning, Drew Gaskins walked and then with one out Bryce Jackson doubled.
With two outs Andrew Prieto singled to score both Gaskins and Jackson to make it 7-5. Shane Thomas singled and then Steel Mientkiewicz singled to score Prieto and cut it to 7-6.
But that was as close as they would get as Lake Sumter State College would get the final out.
Prieto had three hits and drove in three runs while Jackson finished with three hits and scored twice.
Aiden Schwartz tossed a solid 5 1/3 innings, allowing two runs and striking out four.
Eastern Florida State College will open a Citrus Conference series with Indian River State College beginning Thursday at Indian River. The series will come to Bruce Bochy Field on Saturday for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
