Baseball team heads to Ocala for conference doubleheader Saturday

The Eastern Florida State College baseball team hits the road for a Citrus Conference doubleheader in Ocala on Saturday.

The Titans, who lost the series opener on Thursday, look to rebound on Saturday against the College of Central Florida. The doubleheader will begin at noon.

Eastern Florida State College lost a tight series opener 3-2 on Thursday as Sage Adams had a couple of hits and Bryce Jackson had a double.

Andrew Prieto leads the team in hitting, coming into the weekend with a .380 batting average while Jackson leads the team with 31 runs batted in.

Parker Trowbridge is scheduled to start on Saturday and leads Region 8 in earned run average, coming into Saturday's games with a 2.84 ERA in eight starts. Trowbridge has struck out 31 in 31 2/3 innings this season.

Victor Martinez is hitting .445 for the Patriots with a team-leading six home runs and has driven in 44 runs while teammate Jose Correa is hitting .374 this season.

The College of Central Florida is hitting .319 as a team.

Jay Jung was named the FCSAA Division I Pitcher of the Week after shutting out St. Petersburg College over six innings, allowing just two hits and struck out five. Jung is scheduled to start against the Titans on Saturday.
