Baseball team rallies past Miami Dade
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team picked up a big Southern Conference win Tuesday at Bruce Bochy Field
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team rallied back to defeat Miami Dade College 10-5 Tuesday evening at Bruce Bochy Field.
The Titans were down 5-1 in the seventh inning but scored four times to tie the game as Connor Leary, Garrett Evans and Tyler Isenberg all had RBI singles in the inning.
Tied 5-5, Cory Leech came in to get the first two outs and then Darien Smith got the final out to keep the game tied.
The Titans would break the game open in the bottom of the eighth inning, scoring five times to take a 10-5 lead.
Smith would pitch a scoreless ninth to pick up the win.
Melvin Cotto got his third start of the season and allowed one earned run in 4 2/3 innings, striking out six in the no-decision.
Leary and Chet Moore each had two hits, drove in two runs and scored twice in the win.
The Titans, who are now 3-7 in the Southern Conference, will travel to Miami Dade for the second game of the four-game series on Wednesday at 3 p.m. Tyler Vogel is scheduled to start for the Titans.
