Baseball team powers past SCF-Manatee
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team hit three home runs in a win over the State College of Florida Manatee on Wednesday night
The Eastern Florida State College baseball team showed some power Wednesday night against the State College of Florida-Manatee at Bruce Bochy Field.
The Titans, who lost to the Manatees on Monday night on the road, came back to pick up an 8-5 victory.
Down 1-0 on a Manatees home run, the Titans struck back with two runs in the bottom of the second inning. The Manatees would retake the lead in the fifth, scoring four times. And once again the Titans came back in the bottom of the fifth inning with five runs.
Garrett Evans hit two home runs in the game and now has three on the season. Evans finished with four RBI in the game. Teammate Chet Moore also hit his first home run and Connor Leary had a two-run triple in the victory.
Eric Garcia picked up the win, tossing 1 2/3 innings of shutout baseball and Zack Kornick picked up his second save with three scoreless innings. Starting pitcher Darien Smith struck out 11 in 4 1/3 innings.
The Titans improved to 7-10 on the season and will host Elevate Academy at 6 p.m. Thursday at Bruce Bochy Field.
