10 EFSC teams make NJCAA All-Academic Teams
For the first time in school history Eastern Florida State College had 10 teams named to the 2023-24 NJCAA All-Academic Teams on Thursday
For the first time in school history Eastern Florida State College had 10 teams named to the 2023-24 NJCAA All-Academic Teams on Thursday.
NJCAA student-athletes continued to excel in the classroom as 1,194 teams earned at least a 3.0 GPA or better. Three teams finished in the top 10 in their sport.
The men's soccer team is fifth in the nation with a 3.58 GPA highlighted by goalkeeper Kodai Tsuzuki who had a 4.0. The women's soccer team finished with a 3.36 GPA as Morgan Gamin, Lea Monteiro, Samira Roper and Kamara Simmons all were on the first team with a 4.0 GPA.
The women's tennis team was ninth in the nation with a 3.65 GPA as a team while the men's tennis team finished with a 3.12 GPA as Eric Tripathi and Konstantin Kukaras each had 4.0 GPAs.
The women's volleyball team had three players make the first team with a 4.0 as Sarah Henault, Emma Kiser and Sophia Knowles led the team to a 3.62 GPA while the softball team finished with a 3.13 GPA as both Livie Davis and Madison Ford finished with 4.0s.
The men's basketball team was seventh in the nation in team GPA with a 3.38 highlighted by Matus Malovec who had a 4.0. The women's basketball team finished the season with a 3.45 GPA as both Jaidyn Koerdt and Rosa Redondo Sorribes had 4.0 GPAs.
The men's golf team finished with a 3.12 GPA while the women's golf team had a 3.11. Brittan Odic was on the first team with a 4.0.
"I am so proud of our student athletes as they succeeded in the classroom as well as in their particular sports," Eastern Florida State College Associate Vice President of Athletics Jeff Carr said. "To have 10 of our 13 teams have over a 3.0 GPA and the athletic department having a cumulative GPA of a 3.24, really says a lot about our student athletes and the attitude they have about academic excellence; it is also a testament to our coaches and the entire department as we stress success in the classroom! Well done!"
Eastern Florida State College's student-athletes finished with a 3.24 GPA which is the best in school history.
