Titan men's golf team in contention at Wallace State Fall Invitational

The Eastern Florida State College men's golf team opened the fall season with an up and down couple of rounds in the Wallace State Fall Invitational Monday at Cross Creek Golf Course in Alabama.

The squad struggled in the morning round but bounced back to put themselves in a tie for third place overall with Central Alabama.

After scoring a 293 in the first round, the Titans had one of the best rounds of the day in the afternoon, shooting a 281 and are six shots behind leader Mississippi Gulf Coast.

"Six shots on this course is definitely a possibility," Eastern Florida State College men's golf coach Jamie Howell said. "We need another good clean round like we had in the second round to put some pressure on the leaders."

The Titans were led by sophomore Brad Bawden who shot par-72 in the first round and then came out in the afternoon with a four-under 68 and sits in third place, just three shots behind Garrett Senia of Wallace State, who leads with a 137.

Freshman Kyle Decenzo shot a 72-70 for a 142 while Fraser Davren had a 73-71 for 144 in their first college matches.

Teammates Michael Stewart shot a 148 and Ryan Rozic shot 150.

The team will tee off for the final round of the invitational on Tuesday morning.
