Big week ahead for fall sports teams

After more than a week off due to Hurricane Irma, Eastern Florida State College's athletic teams are back to practice, preparing for a busy week.

The volleyball team, who is No. 18 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll, will open the Mid-Florida Conference schedule Tuesday night at Titan Field House against Polk State College. The Titans are 7-2 this season and have beaten Polk State in four sets earlier this season. The Titans have not played in two weeks as the past four matches have been postponed due to the hurricane.

Tuesday night's game will begin at 7 p.m. and admission is free. The Titans will also host Webber International JV on Thursday night at 6 p.m.

The men's soccer team will open the Region 8 conference schedule on Wednesday night in a battle of top-four teams in the country as No. 2 Daytona State College comes to Titan Soccer Complex to face the No. 4 Titans at 6 p.m. in a match that will be broadcast on WEFS-TV live on WEFS-TV and streamed live at www.efsctitans.com/webcast

The Titans are 3-1 on the season and are coming off a 1-0 loss to No. 1 Monroe College in New Rochelle, NY on Sept. 7.

The women's soccer team is No. 2 in the latest NJCAA Division I poll and will not be back in action until Monday, Sept. 25 when they host Polk State College at 6 p.m. in the Region 8 Conference opener.

The match against Daytona State College that was scheduled for Sept. 11 has been rescheduled for Oct. 1 at Daytona State.

The men's tennis team will open the fall season this weekend at the Junior College ITA Regionals in Tifton, Ga. beginning on Friday.
